What is Gas-X® Prevention?

Gas-X® Prevention is a dietary supplement and is not a drug. The food enzyme alpha galactosidase in Gas-X® Prevention can help break down the complex carbohydrates found in gas producing, plant-based problem foods such as beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, corn, lettuce, oat bran, onions, peas, peppers, soy and whole grains into simpler carbohydrates, making them easier to digest so they don't cause gas. How does Gas-X® Prevention work?

The enzyme alpha galactosidase in Gas-X® Prevention can help break down the complex carbohydrates found in gas producing, plant-based problem foods such as beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, corn, lettuce, oat bran, onions, peas, peppers, soy and whole grains into simpler carbohydrates, making them easier to digest so they don't cause gas. Thus Gas-X® Prevention can help prevent the formation of gas and gas related symptoms such as pressure, bloating and discomfort before they start. (top of page)

What causes gas?

Intestinal gas can result from several factors, including swallowing air while eating, chewing gum, and drinking carbonated beverages. Gas can also be produced by bacterial action of ingested food. Some people lack enough of the enzymes needed to break down the complex carbohydrates found in many gas producing, plant-based problem foods, such as beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, corn, lettuce, oat bran, onions, peas, peppers, soy and whole grains. This leads to the fermentation of the complex carbohydrates by the bacteria naturally found in the gut, which results in the production of gas. (top of page)

How much enzyme is present in each capsule?

Each capsule of Gas-X® Prevention contains 600 units (GalU) of the food enzyme alpha galactosidase. (top of page)

How much Gas-X® Prevention do I need to take?

For adults the recommended serving is one capsule right before your first bite of a typical meal containing problem foods. Gas-X® Prevention is not intended for children. (top of page)

When can I take Gas-X® Prevention?

Are there other medical conditions that would be affected by the use of Gas-X® Prevention?

Individuals with galactosemia, a rare genetic disease, are deficient in an enzyme needed to metabolize galactose, which can lead to the accumulation of galactose in the blood and therefore are required to adhere to a galactose restricted diet. Galactosemics should consult their doctor before taking this product. (top of page)

Can I take Gas-X® Prevention with medications?

There are no known drug interactions with the food enzyme (alpha galactosidase) present in Gas-X® Prevention. (top of page)
